Affinity Types

Each Wayfinder possesses three types of Affinity — Instinct, Discipline and Focus. By investing into these Affinity types, players will receive a percentage multiplier bonus for the associated affinity. These bonuses will then be applied to the Affinity-aligned Stats found on Weapons and Accessories.

Increasing Affinity Levels

As Characters level up, they gain Affinity Points which they can spend in order to increase a particular Affinity's level. Each level requires one Affinity Point, as well as a number of special currencies called Gloomstones, of which there are different varieties: 

• Grey Gloomstone
• Blue Gloomstone
• Red Gloomstone
• Black Gloomstone

 The type and number of Gloomstones required will vary depending on the current level. Each Affinity Level also requires an increasing amount of gold .

Affinity Effects

By upgrading an Affinity, its Bonus Multiplier value increases, which will then raise your Stats, depending on the Weapons and Accessories you have equipped. This system can essentially be thought of as "Scaling", a mechanic pertaining to equipment and stats, commonly seen in other titles.

In the example above, the character currently has a 9%, 8% and 6% Bonus Multiplier in the Instinct, Discipline and Focus Affinities, respectively. These bonuses are applied to the Affinity-aligned Stats of their currently equipped gear.

Each Weapon in Wayfinder has a set of Affinity-aligned Stats which are affected by their current Bonus Multiplier in the respective Affinity type. Note that which Stats align with which Affinity type varies from weapon to weapon. For example, the Vanguard Sword and Shield has the Resilience and Weapon Power stats aligned with the Instinct affinity, while the Colossus Great Sword has the Crit Power and Phys Defense stats aligned with the same.

Additionally, these Affinity-aligned Stats can be upgraded by spending Gloomstones, which will permanently increase their base values. Each Weapon is afforded a maximum number of these permanent upgrades. Once a weapon has been fully leveled up, the amount of maximum upgrades can be increased through Weapon Reinforcement at the Weapon Master in Skylight.

Similarly, Accessories also have Affinity-aligned Stats that can benefit from increasing your Affinity levels.

Affinity Perks

In addition to the Bonuses afforded to Equipment, raising Affinities also unlocks Affinity Perks at key Affinity levels.

Affinity Perks are passive effects that improve or modify each character's Abilities. Each Affinity type has its own set of Perks to unlock, allowing for a diverse set of combat tools and effects to cater to different types of playstyles.

Affinity Perks provide their effects immediately after being unlocked and do not need to be equipped. You can view their effect details and unlock requirements via the Affinity Perks submenu.
