Weapons in Wayfinder are the player's main means of dealing damage against Enemies and Titans. Weapons can be obtained in various ways, including as enemy drops, as a reward for finishing events, from merchants, through crafting etc. In Wayfinder, Weapons are split into 4 main categories – Dual Blades, Rifles, Sword and Shields, and Two-Handed Melee. All Wayfinders can equip any Weapon from any category; you are not restricted with your Weapon choice when playing any character. Wayfinder Weapon Mechanics Guide
Weapon Properties in Wayfinder
Each Weapon in Wayfinder provides various Stat increases that can be previewed by hovering over them in the Loadout menu for your Wayfinder when selecting a Weapon.
When viewing your equipped Weapon in the Gear Stat menu or at the bottom right corner when selecting a Weapon, you can find it's main stats in front of an icon of a specific Affinity. Every Weapon has a set of 2-3 stats that are aligned with the Instinct, Discipline and Focus Affinities. The Wayfinder's level in each Affinity will provide a bonus multiplier for each of it's aligned stats.
In addition, like all other pieces of Equipment, all Weapons equipped contribute to your Power Rating. How much each Weapon provides can be found at the bottom left of the Weapon's icon. A Loadout's Power Rating is a numerical representation of how strong the build is.
Wayfinder Weapon Echo Sockets
Echoes can be slotted into Weapons in Wayfinder. These items provide various benefits to the player, including Stat boosts or Damage Shields. Each Weapon starts with one Echo socket, and more can be unlocked by through Tempering.
Each Weapon has a maximum Echo Capacity noted above the Weapon when hovering over it on the Echoes menu. All Echoes equipped on the Weapon are measured against this capacity. Higher Ranked Echoes provide better benefits at the cost of higher capacity costs. You can find out more about the different Echo types, their effects and how to upgrade them on their individual page.
Weapon Crafting
Weapons in Wayfinder can be crafted at a Weapon Crafting Fire. Before a Weapon can be crafted, players will likely have to find the required crafting recipe and crafting materials for the corresponding weapon.
This section will be updated with more information once more has been discovered regarding the game's crafting mechanics.
Levels & Upgrading
Visible in the bottom left corner of a Weapon icon in the Loadout menu or next to the Weapon's name in the Gear Stat menu is it's Level. Each Weapon starts at Level 1, and can be levelled up to a maximum of Level 30.
In order to increase a Weapon's level, it must be Upgraded. Weapon upgrades are divided and sorted by Affinity, and require a set amount of Gloomstones and Gold. Each Weapon can be upgraded 10 times per Affinity category, with each upgrade level increasing the stats aligned with the corresponding Affinity. For example, upgrading Slicer & Dicer's Instinct increases it's Crit Rating and Magic Defense stats permanently.
Tempering & Reinforcement
Besides Upgrading, Weapons in Wayfinder can be further improved through Tempering. Tempering requires Gloomstones and is available after upgrading the Weapon to certain levels. Not only does Tempering a Weapon increase all of it's available stats, but it also unlocks additional Echo sockets for the Weapon.
After a Weapon has been fully Upgraded and Tempered, you can bring it to the Weapon Master in Skylight. There, the weapon can be Reinforced.
