The Precursors in Wayfinder

It’s said the Celestial Architects forged Evenor from primal elements, imposing order on primordial chaos. But humans weren’t the first creatures to walk this new-formed world. The first children of the Architects wielded immense power, and ultimately turned that power against their creators and challenged the Arcs for control of reality. Today, all that remains of these Precursors are the relics of that war: a vast fortress labyrinth; a sword one thousand feet long, half-buried in the petrified corpse of a forgotten colossus, and many other strange wonders scattered across the world. Humanity knows little of this conflict, save that the Architects were the victors. In the wake of this conflict, the Architects left the world in the hands of humanity, leaving one gift behind - the Beacons. These imposing towers are charged with elemental energy – a power that can be tapped by skilled Arcanists. Throughout human history, the greatest cities have been built around Beacons, from the industrial sprawl of the Avar Throne to the many-spired Citadel of the Seven Winds.

While there have been clashes between nations—endless skirmishes between the Avar Imperium and the Maze—the last century has been a time of prosperity. But scholars have always been intrigued by the unanswered questions and the lingering mysteries surrounding the Arcs and the Precursors. Three years ago, the Arcanist Omen founded the Seekers, a band of scholars and adventurers determined to uncover the secrets of the past.

Control the Chaos in Wayfinder

The Gloom has engulfed the planet in Wayfinder, and as a Wayfinder, you are one of the few strong enough to drive it away. You'll be going into places known as Lost Zones to stop the Gloom's destructive expansion. Because of this shifting flux and instability that the Gloom causes, no two explorations of the Lost Zones are ever the same. Using a Gloom Dagger, a Wayfinder can manage this turmoil and use mutators to personalize their journey through the Gloom. These mutators have the power to control your encounters with foes, the resources you may acquire for crafting, and more. The Gloom, however, pushes back with its augmentations and adjustments to enemy damage, environmental hazards, and more every time you try to regulate the chaos.

Wayfinder Character Lore

Wingrave is an Archon Templar who wears armor created by spells and is supported by his belief in the Architects. He fought shadowy monsters long before the Gloomfall and shielded the Empire's citizens from the dreadful dangers of the Maze. He is a born leader and a great hero, supported by his sincere belief in the Empire and the light. When Wingrave's Echo is first reincarnated, these are the things he recalls.

Wingrave is the Champion who most closely resembles a hero and a true champion of light out of all the Champions. The player will learn about the darker aspects of the Empire and the Archons as they delve deeper into Wingrave's background. violent acts like the killing of the monks at Aurelian, which showed that not all Maze inhabitants were monsters. Wingrave's Echo will ultimately have the chance to surpass the original, live up to his goals, and become the champion he could and should have been.

The Shrike Syndicate was a group of smugglers and hired guns who supported both sides in the never-ending struggle between the Avar Imperium and the Maze before the Gloomfall. The Shrikes followed a code even though many people thought they were criminals. Silo was born Silas Vex; the Vex family functioned as the Syndicate's top brass and saw to it that the Shrikes provided for the needs of the Westreach's common folk. Even though Silo was an amazing Shrike—a skilled shooter with a talent for creating bombs and mysterious devices—he was always conscious of his parents' expectations for him, including the notion that he would ultimately take the reins of leadership.

Silo is a cunning conman who is equally adept with a one-liner as a blade. He recalls great heists and gatherings with Westreach residents. His recollections aren't complete, though, as an echo from the Gloom revealed. Silo has no memory of his parents' fate or how he ended there in Skylight during the Gloomfall. The Shrikes are now a danger on this damaged planet. What is Silo missing?

The first offspring of the fractured planet, the Eldren, were created from the Infinites' blood that was shed during the Aegis War. Niss is one of the Deep Eldren, having been born in a pit of rock and earth that has never seen the light of day. There are Eldren of the river and the forests as well. Her people mold shadows like clay; Niss learned the shadow-dance as a young child, mastering the creation of deadly blades and sheltering shrouds from flimsy darkness. The Eldren are dying people whose essence diminishes with each generation despite all of their great gifts. Most of them vowed allegiance to the old Mother of Shadows when she appeared to them and offered newfound strength in exchange for complete commitment. The majority of Niss and her tribe were killed when they refused to bow to the Precursors; Niss managed to flee into exile. She has vowed to pay any price necessary to exterminate the immortal monsters that have perverted her people.

A silent assassin that operates in the shadows, Niss is a cruel and lethal warrior. She can't remember a lot, though, as an echo from the Gloom revealed. She is aware of the numerous struggles she had throughout her exile, but she cannot recall the specifics. She can recall going up against the Mother of Shadows, but not how she managed to live. But she might still be reminded of these memories.

The greatest champion to ever grace the arena, Senja is revered throughout the Avar Empire. Senja relishes every combat, unlike many gladiators who confront death with deadly determination. Senja still hears the spectators as she fights and still sees the jubilant masses encouraging her on. In actuality, she enjoys combat since it takes her mind off of her suffering. Senja is from the Dominion of the Seven Winds, a region where warmasters and arcanists have control over the elements. Although far from her home, the storm nevertheless responds to her cries. The Iron Sisters are a fierce order of deadly warriors, and she is the last of them. No one can deny that the loss of her sisters had an impact on her. Whatever transpired in the Dominion pushed Senja to the other side of the globe and into the never-ending distraction of the arena, she doesn't discuss what happened to her sisters. Senja needs a fresh battle to take her mind off her suffering now that the Gloom has consumed the arena, and the Gloom is her greatest foe.

Senja is an unstoppable adversary and a brave fighter. There are many things she can't recall, though, as an echo from the Gloom revealed. She recalls fighting alongside the Iron Sisters, but she is unable to recall the specifics of how they were defeated. Though she can recall many of the battles she fought in the arena, she is aware that she cannot recall every foe. Could long-forgotten foes resurface to threaten her?

The Kingdom of Ashes is a region that exists. Black sand beaches are covered in bones, and the burnt remains of crystal spires may still be seen reaching upward. Kyros still recalls this place as it once was, a brilliant civilization whose accomplishments rivaled those of the Avar Empire or the Maze, even though it has been a despised ruin for countless years. He recalled learning about the fundamental basis of reality as well as how to transcend his physical form and transform it into a being made entirely of mystical energy that was attached to an arc stone and crystal skeleton. Kyros is a powerful man, yet he is first and foremost a scientist. He is determined to put an end to the Gloom because he cannot stand by and let another civilization fall. He thinks that understanding the Gloom is the key to overcoming it, nevertheless.

Kyros is a bright researcher as well as a lethal warmage. Yet because he has been wandering in space for countless years, he has likely forgotten or never learned a lot of things. How did his folks fare? Did he play a role in how his magnificent country ended up as the Kingdom of Ashes? There must be solutions waiting to be discovered.
